Our investment advisor is BlackRock Advisors LLC, a registered investment adviser under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and a wholly owned subsidiary of BlackRock, Inc. Our administrator is BlackRock Financial Management, Inc. Services necessary for our business are provided by individuals who are employees of our investment advisor or administrator.
We have an experienced group of financial professionals with extensive knowledge in commercial lending, investment banking, accounting, corporate law and private debt and equity investing. Our investment team is responsible for sourcing potential investments, conducting research on prospective investments, analyzing investment opportunities, structuring transactions and monitoring portfolio companies on an ongoing basis.

Mike leads the team’s underwriting and monitoring of its middle market private investments, including investments on behalf of BlackRock Capital Investment Corporation ("BCIC"), a US Business Development Company. BCIC offers middle-market companies flexible financing solutions to meet their current and future capital needs. Mr. Zugay also serves as Vice Chairman of the US Private Capital’s investment committee.
Before joining BlackRock, Mr. Zugay was a Managing Director for Ares Management’s Direct Lending Group where he was responsible for sourcing, evaluating, structuring and executing private debt and equity investments with approximately $25 billion of committed capital, the primary funding vehicle was a publicly-traded BDC (Nasdaq: ARCC). Prior to Ares, Mike worked at Zolfo Cooper, a debt restructuring firm, where he was involved in several large corporate restructurings. Mike began his career at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette (“DLJ”) as an analyst in its corporate finance investment banking program and later joined UBS as a generalist in its investment banking division in Los Angeles, CA.
Mr. Zugay earned a BS degree in Finance with a minor in Economics from the Pennsylvania State University in 2001, where he graduated with honors.

He recently joined the BCIC team following the decision by Ms. Donna Milia to leave the Company. Mr. Pungello is a Managing Director at BlackRock. Prior to accepting his new role, Mr. Pungello was Co-Head of BlackRock’s Global Alternative Operations team supporting a variety of alternative investment products, including hedge funds, private equity funds, hedge fund of funds, and real estate equity and debt funds. Mr. Pungello joined BlackRock in 2006 following the acquisition of Merrill Lynch’s investment management business. Mr. Pungello had been with Merrill Lynch since 1998. Prior to that, Mr. Pungello was a Partner with Deloitte & Touche in their securities and investment company practices. He started with Deloitte in 1979. Mr. Pungello has a BBA in Accounting from Fordham University and an MBA from New York University.

Prior to joining BlackRock Capital Investment Corporation’s former advisor in 2008, Mr. Paredes served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Porter Novelli, Inc., an Omnicom Group Inc. agency and a global public relations firm with 17 North American offices and a network of nearly 100 international offices.
While at Porter Novelli, Inc., Mr. Paredes was responsible for the legal affairs of the firm, including commercial contracts, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, employment and labor law, advertising and marketing law, intellectual property law, government contracts, and corporate compliance. Mr. Paredes was also responsible for the development of many of the firm's policies involving ethics, business conduct, and best practices.
Before joining Porter Novelli, Inc., Mr. Paredes was with the law firms of Spitzer & Feldman P.C. and Beckman, Millman & Sanders LLP, where he practiced corporate, securities and investment management law.
Mr. Paredes is admitted to the Bars of the States of New York, Connecticut and New Jersey, as well as the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. Mr. Paredes received his B.A. (Economics) from Hobart College and his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. He has served as a Trustee of the Rye Country Day School, as well as President of the Rye Country Day School Alumni Executive Board.

Prior to that, Mr. Kless was with the mergers & acquisitions group within Merrill Lynch's investment banking division. Mr. Kless began his career in 1999 as an attorney at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett focusing on mergers & acquisitions for financial sponsors.
Mr. Kless earned a BA degree in history with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1995 and a JD with highest honors from the George Washington University Law School in 1999.

At BACI, Mr. Mehring focused on mezzanine and private equity investing in middle market companies. Prior to joining BACI in 1994, he worked at Firstar Bank, a predecessor to U.S. Bank.
Mr. Mehring received a B.B.A., summa cum laude, in Finance and Economics from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Prior to joining Harris Williams in 1998, Mr. Merriman was a partner at the law firm of McGuireWoods LLP, where he represented public and private companies and private equity firms in mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance transactions.

Prior to joining Deutsche Bank in 1997, Mr. Sachman worked in the investment banking departments of Smith Barney and Kidder Peabody & Co. He began his career with The Capital Group.

Nik Singhal, CFA, is a Managing Director at BlackRock where he is responsible for Investor Relations for BlackRock Capital Investment Corporation, as well business strategy and implementation for the US Private Capital group within BlackRock. Prior to this role, Mr. Singhal served as a Managing Director in the Financial Markets Advisory Group within BlackRock Solutions, where he provided portfolio management and advisory services to clients with a focus on corporate debt, shipping loans, consumer and esoteric ABS.
Before coming to Blackrock in 2010, Mr. Singhal worked as a senior investment professional at HBK Capital Management in Dallas where he was responsible for originating and managing direct corporate loans and other opportunistic investments. He joined HBK in 2005. Mr. Singhal began his career with Lehman Brothers in 1998. At Lehman he structured and managed principal transactions, primarily focusing on esoteric ABS and distressed corporate debt.
Mr. Singhal earned a BS degree in Computer Science & Engineering from IIT Delhi in 1995 and an MBA degree from IIM Ahmedabad in 1998.

Previously, Mr. Booth was a Principal at Park Avenue Equity Partners, a middle market private equity fund. During his four years at Park Avenue Equity Partners, his responsibilities included portfolio company oversight, performing due diligence, developing deal structures, and generating deal flow. Formerly, Mr. Booth was an Associate at Deutsche Bank in its Health Care Investment Banking Group. He worked on the execution of equity, debt and M&A transactions. During her six years at BAML, Olivera spent two years as a research analyst focusing on high grade and high yield markets, contributing to the flagship Credit Market Strategist and Situation Room publications. In the remaining four years, she focused on the creation, adoption and maintenance of the Firm's credit data and portfolio analytics platform (Lighthouse), working with strategists to analyze credit portfolios to manage risk and generate alpha for investors. Prior to BAML, Ms. Radakovic was a Vice President at Lehman Brothers, where she spent nine years in the Global Fixed Income Strategy team as a research analyst.
